ABOUT NAR AND KRA
ORGANIZED REAL ESTATE BROKERING-KRA
Although thousands of real estate and house brokers operate out of Kerala, only a few of them are members of the national Association of realtors-India(NAR) which is one of the few organizations in the country, that promotes ethical practices among realtors in India. NAR was formed in 1908, as 10 Lakh + members operating out of nearly in more than 60 countries.
Kerala Realtors Association (KRA) is the state wide wing of NAR-India currently having more than 12 members and affiliated to NAR-India, Credai-India, ICREA-International Consortium of Real estate Associations, FNAIM-French National Federation of Real estate, USAID-United states Agency for International development among others. According to the president of KRA, Mr. Joseph john and incoming President Mr. Abjo Joy, this association has been trying hard to streamline estate business and bring in a professionalism that is lacking in today’s brokers. If a real estate broker wants to be certified by the NAR, he/she has to submit a number of documents and provide references besides taking up the certification test online. Besides they need to have a proper office and practice ethical business and their membership will have to be approved by a team of experts after a debate.
We encourage public to deal only with certified realtors to avoid being conned. Buying or selling properties should be a satisfactory experience as it is a huge and one-time investment.
NAR-India enables brokers to connect with national as well as International level brokers and with various cities across the world. It helps in networking with various other cities and there by increases business and at the same time complies with the need of buyers. The lack of a proper and organized body that represented the real estate industry in Kerala was the main reason like – minded realtors decided to start their associations, KRA.
KRA has been formed for realtors who operate mainly in Kerala to bring respectability, transparency and accountability in the real estate community along with the code of ethics. Thus, our organization’s aim is to elevate the real estate business to a global level
One of the most important skill for brokers is being expressive, be it speaking on the phone, email or giving a presentation. A realtor should typically have a team of lawyers, CAs, people to help with registration, bankers and expert in finance. With broker associations making their presence felt, home buyers can feel more at ease while completing a property transaction. In a way, the realtor’s association’s aim to be a singular voice for a large scale interest of its members, while interacting with government bodies, when needed. They are also a platform for realtors to meet and exchange ideas on issues regarding their profession. The main objective, however remains to streamline and promote the profession of real estate brokerage in India in order to achieve transparency, accountability, fair dealing and ethical practices for overall good governance in the Industry. Additionally these associations also hold seminars related to the real estate industry and offer educational courses for newcomers as well
